If I have been sentenced to community custody for a year, what exactly is community custody? And is it possible to get an early release from it?
Less'>Community custody is another word for probation. Depending on the crime the length of community custody may be mandatory or within the discretion of the court. Typically, even if you are eligible for early release you must demonstrate that you can be a model citizen, and have a good reason for early release, before the court will consider terminating the probation.
Community custody is essentially probation (jail sentence)/parole (prison sentence). And yes, if you have no or little criminal record and your current offense is petty, you have a good change to just be removed from it right away. Make sure you comply 100% so that you can be released early from it and so that you do not get violations, which can result in jail.

Community custody is more commonly known as probation. You'll have a probation officer, be required to check in with them, and follow the terms of your judgment and sentence. For example, you may be restricted from drinking any alcohol during your community custody sentence. If you do drink, you will be in violation of your community custody/probation. Your probation officer can then suspend your community custody time, and you may have to serve the remainder of your community custody sentence in jail.

Physical Custody and Visitation
Physical custody is completely separate from legal custody and refers to the amount of time the children spend with each parent. These time periods are usually called “periods of responsibility,” and they vary greatly depending upon the circumstances of the parties and the age of the children. Factors to Consider When Determining Child Custody
The standard by which the court will determine child custody is what is in “the best interests of the child.” In order to minimize the trauma of divorce and an unhealthy custody arrangement, the parties should always remain focused on this standard, taking into account such things as the age of the children, their emotional well-being, and their present and former relationships with each parent.
